BERA WaterFix Ball
The BERA philosophy of “Conserving Water for Future Generations” is best visualized by the BERA® WaterFix Ball. It is essential, and in some countries mandatory, to retain, reuse, or infiltrate all rainwater on one’s own property.
- 100% recycled raw materials
- UV and frost-resistant products
- Sustainably produced in Europe
What is BERA® Waterfix Ball?
BERA® WaterFix Ball refers to the well-known traditional ‘soakaway’. A stone-filled hole designed to infiltrate excess rainwater. However, the stones have now been replaced by open balls; while stone occupies about 70% of the volume, the balls occupy only 5%. Consequently, the excavated hole now has a 95% capacity instead of 30%. Disconnecting rainwater and/or draining excess water from terraces and paved paths has now become very simple. It reduces flooding in the street or municipality during heavy rainfall.
By facilitating infiltration on-site, it also improves groundwater levels, which benefits plants and trees during drier periods.
Where to use BERA® Waterfix Ball
Unlike infiltration crates with fixed shapes and dimensions, BERA® WaterFix Ball allows the infiltration volume to be chosen completely freely in terms of shape and size, depending on local possibilities or constraints. Underground obstacles can be easily bypassed. Furthermore, narrow shapes along the terrace or circular shapes in wet spots on the lawn can be created without any problems. Use the included DuPont™ Typar SF20 non-woven polypropylene geotextile and place the balls inside, cover the space again with the geotextile, and finish with an approx. 30 cm thick layer of soil as ballast. This is subject to local conditions.
Features & benefits
- Very limited logistical costs
- Balls are delivered as halves in the box
- After assembly, the infiltration capacity is doubled compared to the delivered material
- 1 pallet of 1 m³ of material yields approximately 2 m³ of infiltration volume
- Approximately 192 balls fill 1 m³ of infiltration volume
- Can also be used as a water buffer when using foil instead of geotextile
